We exist to preserve the SBT’s classic qualities of courage and tenacity, with a focus on maintaining high prey drive, perseverance in the face of adversity, athletic ability, fearlessness, and a stable loyal temperament.

At Firestone Staffords we have 1 goal: To preserve the best qualities of the dogs we’ve inherited from the past. To us that means healthy and athletic purebred Staffordshire Bull Terriers that are equal to their historic counterparts in temperament, ability, health, and longevity.

Firestone Staffords consistently show high Intelligence, tenacity, fearlessness, and athletic ability.

We owe this in large part to the great breeders who have gone before us. We have been very blessed to be able to acquire foundation dogs from some of the best kennels in North America like Dynamite, Steadfast, Yankeestaff, and Gamestaff. We are proud of the genetic ingredients that have made us what we are today and we are committed to carefully preserving those ingredients and concentrating them in our line into the future.

When you choose a Firestone Stafford you are buying much more than a cute little ball of happy terror. You are buying a unique genetic template that our pups have inherited from a long line of healthy, active, proper Staffords that have gone before them. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is not for everyone, nor should it be. Staffords are an active and high energy breed, with a high prey drive (the instinct to chase, catch, and kill), a strong predisposition towards dog aggression, and an “I’m the King of the World” attitude. A Stafford should never back down from a challenge and should be tenacious, fearless, driven, intelligent, and eager to please. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier carries a genetic propensity towards dog aggression and this is a trait that we value in the breed and in the Firestone line of Staffords.

Hundreds of years of selective breeding for hunting vermin and dog on dog combat have left the Stafford with a unique skill set that needs strict training and careful management. That said, I’ve never met a breed that loved their family, especially children, with such loyal devotion more than a Stafford.
